Mid-urethral Sling
Mid-urethral sling is a medical procedure to help women with stress incontinence (leakage of urine with coughing, sneezing, laughing or exercise). It is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure performed through a small vaginal incision. Your surgeon will use a narrow sling made of synthetic mesh which is placed under the middle of the urethra, the tube through which urine passes out. The ends of the sling are secured to the pubic bone or passed through groin incisions. The system acts like a ribbon of support preventing or reducing leakage.
