Sacral Nerve Stimulation
Sacral nerve stimulation, also called sacral neuromodulation, is a type of electrical stimulation therapy to treat overactive bladder (frequent, strong, and sudden urge to urinate) as well as bowel problems such as faecal incontinence. It uses a small electrical stimulator or transmitter placed under the skin in your upper buttock area. The device delivers gentle electrical impulses that stimulate the sacral nerves located in the lower back (just above the tailbone). Sacral nerve stimulation can restore normal bladder or bowel function and even modulate pelvic pain.
